I have a feeling that I can do well on my 25 things list just by listing a lot of INTJ preferences but I won’t do that today.
I read WCIYP 2022 Chapter 5 and there was a nice summary of what the ultimate goal is:
“Make this not only a hunt for a job but also a hunt for a life. A deeper life, a victorious life, a life you’re more proud of. … For too many people, their work puts bread on the table but … they are bored out of their minds. They’ve never taken the time to think out what they uniquely can do, and what they uniquely have to offer to the world. The world doesn’t need any more bored workers. Dream a little. Dream a lot. One of the saddest pieces of advice in the world is “Oh come now – be realistic.” The best parts of this world were not fashioned by those who were “realistic”. They were fashioned by those who dared to look hard at their wishes and then gave them horses to ride.”
People may or may not be bored, though. Maybe they fit well into the “realistic” standard choices, just want to make more money, and have no interest in being “unique” or expressing their uniqueness. But anyone who doesn’t fit well or wants to do something more unique has to do more self-examination. “Being realistic” is not a bad thing – it’s just figuring out how to get from where we are to where we want to be, realistically, which is what this book is about. Anyway, despite the fact that I slightly disagree with the premises, it was a nice reminder of what all this work is for!
