Flower Exercise: Petal 6, Prioritizing Grid

I need to do something easier this morning because I’m pressed for time so I’m going to skip ahead to Petal 6 (You and Geography) since it seems easier to answer. Actually, I don’t know why this isn’t right after Petal 2 since it’s kind of related but oh well.

I only started with 7 items since the last 3 of 10 I considered were more like non-negotiables / non-starters that precede the ranking and since we narrow down to 5 anyway, so here are my top 5 preferences:

  1. safe from crime
  2. interesting things to do
  3. good food options
  4. not hot+humid (no mosquitos!)
  5. culturally interesting people

Practically, I noticed I prefer to live in suburbs – close to big cities, rather than living in the city especially because of crime. Interesting to note that this could be applied in different countries, since I’ve lived outside the US. WCIYP notes, ‘if you’re currently tied down to a particular place because “I need to be near my kids or my ailing parents”, or whatever, in which case this becomes a planning for the future: retirement, or earlier. It’s important to think about the future now, because an opportunity may come along when you least expect it, and you might pass right by it, unless you’ve given it some thought and instantly recognize it.”
