So my conclusion after Sunday’s call was that I would like to look into representing children in need on a volunteer basis, but I’m not convinced that it can be sustainable because it certainly sounds like it does not provide much monetary compensation.

Nevertheless, the “psychic income” in knowing that it’s important work, that it is an entirely learnable use of my law degree, and that colleagues in that field likely share similar values is really compelling. The type of work I would do (maybe only do :(?) for free. Well, stranger things have happened where I’ve gotten a job doing something I would never dream I could be paid to do.

So, a few more items for the list of things to do is to look into the federal Adoption and Safe Families Act, the Center for Study of Social Policy and the Youth Law Center.
