Okay, so I need to flesh out the trait of being tenacious and “not giving up on something challenging”.
The problem is that my stories have been mostly about me being tenacious in fighting for my own rights and achievements and not on behalf of other people. So that doesn’t sound to me like something particularly interesting to an employer.
I guess I could frame it as being tenacious about being tenacious doing what is right in the face of challenges from other people or authority and getting justice and a good result. On behalf of other people, I have been tenacious with people – like my student and my boss, even when they pushed back at me – and persistent about getting what I need from them and persuading them when they don’t want to do what is needed.
For example, I had to try several different explanations of my English tutoring advice before my student finally understood what I was saying and with my former boss, I had to resort to a psychological tactic of appealing to his love of getting credit for things before he would agree to complete the paperwork I needed him to do.
Those are much better work examples – so I’m tenacious with people in achieving good results for them even when they push back on me lol. That’s pretty good – includes some good problem solving, persuasion skills, etc.
