Despite news stories about government waste, I did encounter appropriate boundaries on government grant money during my work. My employer thought they might be able to use some of it towards my salary but as with the other transparency measures, the agency was only interested in funding within the limitations of the project. There was an odd disconnect in understanding between my old boss and the federal agency. I’m still surprised by this and I wonder how such basic things would not have been understood when he would be familiar with similar goals, but in any case, I want to read the report I was drafting in more detail later.
