It’s funny to look back at how clueless I was about the goals we were trying to achieve but more than that, how I can see, looking back, how my original task was really not as important as the service I was doing for the parent organization, and that was why the original concerns about funding became less of an issue and instead I really became more focused on some bigger picture tasks.

Looking back, I also realize how ambitious our goals were – essentially, trying to do the work of a whole governmental organization, on some level. Despite how impossible that seems to me now, I suppose we could have beens successful with the right buy-in and expertise from other people doing the work. It’s also kind of disappointing to see everything I didn’t do that fell by the wayside because of our larger goals. But in any case, it almost makes me think the chances of success were and are slim.
